New Haven/Leon Sister City Project

The New Haven/Leon Sister City Project´╗┐ has been connecting the sister cities of New Haven, CT and Leon, Nicaragua for over 30 years. In partnership with this organization, the HSC Global Eagles--a group made up of HSC teachers, students, and parents--travel annually to the rural community of Goyena, working side by side with the Nicaraguan people. The Global Eagles' projects include working with primary school children on academics, play, or health concerns; participating with environmental projects regarding clean water, nutrition; tending community gardens, construction projects, painting murals; and many more. To read about our 2017 trip, check out this New Haven Register article: "For New Haven students, a trip to Nicaraguan sister city Leon brings new perspective."
Why are we embarking on this journey?

"I want to expand my knowledge on global injustices" - Sean, HSC Student

"I want to travel and get a first hand experience on how poverty affects the world." - Nancy, HSC Student
